Principal and Senior Project Designer in Goettsch Partners

Joachim Schuessler is a principal and senior project designer at Goettsch Partners, based in Chicago. Schuessler leads or collaborates on conceptual designs for projects and oversees design through all phases of development. He has worked on a range of office, hotel, mixed-use, institutional and government projects throughout the world, including in the Middle East, Asia, North America and Europe. As a senior designer, he is charged with coordinating all aspects of a building’s design and technical development, including core-and- shell components, the building enclosure, and program requirements.

Recent work includes 150 North Riverside, a core-supported, 54-story, 111 thousand-square-meter office tower in downtown Chicago overlooking the Chicago River; Mennica Legacy Tower, a two-building, 65 thousand-square-meter office complex in Warsaw, Poland; the Shenzhen Guanze Development in Shenzhen, China, a 316 thousand-square-meter multi-use complex, including retail, Class A office space, a five-star hotel, and apartments; and two hotels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: the 900-key Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residence and the Wyndham Grand Riyadh – KAFD, a 214-key hotel in the King Abdullah Financial District.

Schuessler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Leipzig University of Applied Sciences in Germany, studied at the University of North London, and received his Master of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.
